MICROCREDIT PROJECT IN UVIRA
Papy and Dale were Visited the 96 women who benefited from CEJDU’s microcredit
project in Uvira, South Kivu, DR.Congo in 2024. With the small loan they received from
CEJDU, they started a small business selling vegetables, fishes and household
goods in the local market. This opportunity helped them improve their income,
support their families and gain financial independence. Through the project, they
also received training in basic business management and savings. Today, CEJDU Asbl
are the examples of how microcredit program contributes positively to their
community’s economic development...

In this Video Uvira’s Chief of Division, Chakupewa Mutambala Jeanne d’Arc from city hall encouraged vulnerable young girls to focus on learning computer skills rather than marrying at an early age, a practice often encouraged by some parents, chat... She emphasized that education especially digital literacy is essential for the future of young people and for the development of the community. Speaking in a city deeply affected by war and conflict, she thanked CEJDU Asbl for bringing this important initiative to Uvira and creating opportunities. She also expressed sincere gratitude to the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association in Canada (OECTA) for their financial support, which made this impactful program possible.
